Growing in relationship with Christ

God’s Word tells us we receive the gift of salvation through faith, by believing the sacrifice Christ made on the Cross covered and forgave our sins.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 ESV

He then gives us purpose by allowing us to partner with Him in transforming our world.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing: it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”  Ephesians 2:8,9 ESV

The key to growing in relationship with Christ begins by realizing that grace is His love language. He loves us so immensely that He works in our heart to soften it and bring about healing and change in order to re-make us in His image. Why? So we might accurately re-present Him to a world that needs Him as much as we do.

Growing spiritually requires us to learn first how to “BE” before we “DO.” That means re-learning where we get our identity from…it’s what He says about us, not what we can do or what we have that matters.
